On bank holiday Monday (28th May) we have a day of coached sessions at Fritton Lake Outdoor Centre. Whether you want to try open water swimming for the first time, are preparing for your first open water swim event or open water triathlon, or you just want to learn extra skills and techniques in the water, then these sessions are for you.
Open Water Swim Skills
Making the transition from pool to open water demands additional skills. At this session our qualified coaches will take you through these various aspects of competing in open water including sighting, turning and drafting. This session is suitable for those comfortable in the open water environment and looking to complete a first open water event in 2018.
T1 (Transition 1) Skills – Lake to Land
If you are entering our Fritton Lake Triathlon Weekend as your first open water triathlon this session is ideal for you. The session may be booked together with the Swim Skills session or on its own. We will cover various aspects of T1 including exiting the water, removal of wetsuit (not always as easy as you think!) and we’ll provide you with the knowledge and some tips to nail the perfect T1 transition.
First Open Water Experience
The ideal time and place to have a first go at open water swimming. Our experienced coaches will take you through the process of acclimatisation and run through everything you need to know to enjoy our beautiful lake. Also suitable for those who want to improve their confidence in the company of like minded individuals.
T1/T2 Bike Skills
You’ll have lots of fun at this session as our qualified coaches get you moving with your bike and show you a number of ways to mount and dismount. We’ll go through rules as well as giving you tips and ideas on layout of kit for the perfect transition. If you need to brush up your T1/T2 skills or are taking on your first triathlon in 2018 this is the session for you. You will need to bring your own bike which must be road-worthy and a well fitting helmet.
